YOUTH AND RIO 2004

         Our Brazilian youth, wholesome, sporty and good-headed, can greatly help to make the 2004 Olympics take place in Rio de Janeiro, making our old dream come true.

         Our young people from 0 to 100 years, because joviality is in the mind, has energy, grit, strength and unity. Thoughts, ideals and fertile ideas, and, by talented, will be able to create an unforgettable opening on the occasion of those Games, besides stylizing one of our many beautiful and remarkable animals to become the Mascot, always a memorable figure of the whole Olympiad.

         Already motivated, our youth prepares to represent Brazil in 2004, playing at home. For my part, I’m giving it my all. I have already signed up to act as a collaborator, with great honor and pleasure, but I train every day and apply myself in Football, Swimming, Volleyball and Basketball to timely decide which will have the most chances to materialize my participation, climbing to the Podium to receive the Laurels and Gold dreamed.

         Youth and Olympics have everything to do, and many similarities in many respects, for young people, longing to relate to other people, to form friends, brother, in short, through the approximation of people sand people running up to the Definitive Peace, by the Olympic Games, offering all the conditions and facilities for the approximation between beings of the most distant and culturally different countries of the Earth.

         As long as it wants to be able, and our Youth truly wants the Olympics to take place in Rio, here it will happen, and for all that will need to be done in the preparation and infrastructure phase, education, health and safety during Rio 2004, plus the benefits that will be perpetuated when the Games are closed. WELCOME – COMING RIO 2004, second of the century, the 21st century, and the Third Millennium, Olympiad of Peace, Love and Joy.

         The City of Rio de Janeiro, Wonderful City, Postcard of the most beautiful in the world, will be honored to show everyone its culture, our things, our places and our people, our youth – greater wealth. In return, what a wonder, without leaving here to bring the world by its dilettos and worthy Ambassadors, Young Athletes Champions, representatives of all that good exists allowing us to get culturally richer.

         Rio 2004 and Youth also have in common high competitiveness, the attempt to record and the overcoming of human limits, bringing us closer to perfection, and, for it, the arrival to God.

         You will never forget the Marquis de Coubertin’s Maxim that “the important thing is to compete”, but interpreting it modernly and putting it at the service of the future “the important thing is to compete to win the Gold Medal, honestly and loyally, respecting all the established rules, for the joy of our joy and our people”.

         All the effort to overcome and beat the opponents in the most sublime moment that can happen every 4 years, since the last century, will be repeated in the passage from the Second to the Third Millennium in Sydney, Australia and in 2004 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with great honor and for the good of all our Youth.
