Pioneers of Fundão: 49 years of Formados (2021)

In 1969, a Preparatory Course for the Physical Education Vestibular of the School of Physical Education of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro began.

Despite the possible competition between all to reach one of the 50 men’s and 50 female spots, 100 starting in the first half and 100 in the second, from this, a group was formed that was well related, and was stimulated to overcome, in a way because almost all came from the practice of sports, including competitive high performance.

Once the vestibular stage has expired those approved to start in February 1970 form to attend practical classes at Fundão, still with few resources, by determination of the Director, Swimming Champion Maria Lenk, with the aim of convincing the Government to build the planned new School of Physical Education and Sports. This first class, which came together more and more, overcame great obstacles due to the lack of complete structure, and took theoretical classes in Urca, Philosophy, Psychology, and others, in addition to in Urca, but in the Faculty of Medicine the medical area as Anatomy.

The course was defined in 3 years, under normal conditions of approval, with graduation in 1972, December, with another year for technical specialization such as Football, Basketball, Volleyball Swimming, Dance and Others.

In the second year the goal of the Magnificent Master Maria Lenk and other Teachers was achieved, starting the construction of the Complex that is now in Fundão, at the very modern time, and the Pioneers of Fundão Class, as it became known, after exploring the Island, returned to practical and theoretical classes in Urca, where it was originally, behind Pinel Hospital.

Each one went to take care of his professional life, fight for his dreams and goals, educate young people, win titles, subdividing into small groups of Friendship made during the years of formation.

But the affection was so much, and the link of Love that united us so great that we planned a great Feast to celebrate the 25 years of formed, which was done in December 1997, which we did with great emotion, respected the last 2 during the Pandemic, which as a precaution we decided not to perform. During this period without seeing each other, we met, during Covid we lost two dear friends, the Pioneer Celinha and the Pioneer Espezim.

This year, today, we will be moved again, weeping and laughing, remembering the stories and thanking our teachers, who in small but important numbers are present. How many stories… and thank the life, to our Teachers who in small but important number are present. How many stories… would make a wonderful book! Educators, yes a group of Educators who lead by example, pioneer thing, pathfinder!

I didn’t even sleep properly. I already know that some can not go, always go, others that We love, but never go and today, by surprise the Couple of Pioneers Zélia and Dionysus should provide us with a great surprise and emotion, if they can take Luiz Carlos Bresciane for the first time to the Meeting, which returns to the place of origin the Barrel 1800, Arpoador, now named Boteco Boa Praça.
