PHYSICAL PREPARATION SHOWED HOW TO WIN THE WORLD CUP (FINAL ARTICLE)
This is the final article on the Physical Preparation of the selected Brazilian, world champion, in the IX World Cup, Mexico. Based on this work a whole mentality has been changed.
Before, it was said that Brazilians were inferior to Europeans (and the 1966 World Cup really showed our mistake); then, with an idea and a plan, three men made create a new soul and another structure for the Brazilian player. Admildo Chirol, Claudio Coutinho and Carlos Alberto Parreira were the authors of this transformation.
They proved that the technique combined with the study gives good results. The CBD Bulletin hopes that the dissemination of this work has led to scholars of Physical Preparation, a new encouragement and looks forward to seeing the application of this method in clubs throughout the country.

3.2 – Basic conditioning period (2nd to 7th. Week)
Aiming at the acquisition of basic organic potential through long distance racing and circuit-training, muscle work is in charge of isotonic exercises performed together, in pairs, trios, acrobatic gymnastics sessions, Swedish bench and elastic rope.
In addition, all the technical training, the collectives and the preparation games themselves contributed greatly to the acquisition of the physical state that was intended.
At this stage, as in every beginning of training, the players presented symptoms, such as muscle pain, premature tiredness, resulting from the wear resulting from the work that was performed, being, therefore, carefully controlled by physicians and physical trainers.
At this stage, as in every beginning of training, the players presented symptoms, such as muscle pain, premature tiredness, resulting from the wear resulting from the work that was performed, being, therefore, carefully controlled by physicians and physical trainers.
3.3. – Specific conditioning period (8th. The 11th. Week)
Already counting on the physical potential of the basic conditioning period, special emphasis was given to obtain endurance and endurance through the interval-training that was applied in the basic period. In addition, the training loads of the room with the control performed through the individual records were readjusted.
At the end of the eighth week, the 2nd week was held. Cooper’s test, which allowed us a direct confrontation with the first test performed making it clear that there was a marked improvement in maximum oxygen consumption (VO2)
3.4. – First step of the acclimatization period (11th to 12th week)
It was carried out in Guadalajara, which is located at 1610 m above sea level and would act as the first step for the intended super acclimatization, and, it lasted for one week and despite the decrease in the pace of training it was possible to notice the influence of altitude, especially in the recovery time between the exercises and the dryness and irritation of the airways.
The first Lartigue test was performed at the opportunity, which is a test that aims to assess organic fitness and aims to determine the behavior of the cardiocirculatory system, before an effort, through the control of pulsations.
Its mechanics are as follows:
First. – taking the basal pulse when waking up in the morning for one (1) minute while lying on your back.
2nd. – performing thirty leg push-ups (squat – sitting the heels, hands on the hips) for 30 (thirty seconds).
3.- pulse take one (1) minute after the exercise, verification made for 15 (fifteen) seconds, multiplying by 4 (four) the result.
The INDEX is given by the difference between the results corresponding to the two pulse shots.
INDEX = PULSE AFTER THE EFFORT – PULSE AT REST
The results are compared with an existing table that gives us the degree of training and adaptation of the athletes and the better the result the lower the index found, that is, the more the pulse taken after the effort approaches the wrist at rest.
INDEX
0 – 6 EXCELLENT
7 – 13 VERY GOOD
14 – 20 GOOD
21 – 27 REGULAR
28 onwards – INSUFFICIENT
The results of the first test performed in 4-5-70 were as follows:

3.5. Superacclimatization period (13th to 15th week)
It was carried out in Guanajuato, which is situated at 2,100 m above sea level, and aimed to give the body the necessary conditions of adaptation so that it could yield without premature tiredness and deterioration of performance. It lasted three weeks during which it was possible, thanks not only to daily observations in training and games, but also by interval-training and long distance sessions, in which the results attest to the desired adaptation. At the end of the period, the 2 was performed. Lartigue test, which in confrontation with the first came to attest to the achievement of the intended goal.
3.6. – Competition Period (16th to 19th week)
After the period of superacclimatization, as described above, and according to the medical team’s opinion, and the athletes reached the expected degree of conditioning, close to the apopere, specific work was suspended in which the results attest to the desired adaptation. At the end of the period, the 2 was performed. Lartigue test, which in confrontation with the first came to attest to the achievement of the intended goal.
It would be interesting that athletes who were not competing were submitted during the competition work to specific compensation work so that they did not lose the way they were reached, and those who played had 24 hours of recovery, at relative rest, when special attention was paid to food and rehydration.
It follows in an annex, extract of useful observations, published by the F.I.F.A., in bulletin and, a work of Dr. Mario Pini, chief physician of the Brazilian delegation who attended the Olympic Games of Mexico in October 1968, before the Mexican altitude.

Excelente.

Show! Abraço
