NATIVE CHRISTMAS TREE

I wanted, Sir, in this Christmas,

To set a tree inside of my heart and in it to hang,

Instead of gifts, the names of all my Relatives and Friends!

Friends of far and close old and the recent.

The ones that I see each day and the ones that rare meeting.

Always remembered, the ones that, to the times, are forgotten.

The constants and the intermittent ones,

Of the difficult hours and of the glad hours,

The ones that without wanting, I hurt,

Or without wanting, hurt me.

Those to whom I know deeply and those of who are known me only the appearances,

The ones that little must me and those to who very I must.

My young Friends and my old Friends.

My Friends done men and the children, my little Friends.

My simple Friends and my important Friends.

The names of all the ones that already had passed for my life.

The ones that admires me and esteem me without I know,

The ones that I esteem without giving to understand to them.

I want, Sir, in this Christmas,

To set a tree of very deep roots,

So that its names never more are pulled out of my life.

A tree of extensive branches,

So that new names, come of all the parts,

Come to join it already the existing ones.

A tree of very pleasant shade,

So that our friendship is a moment of rest in the way them challenges of the life.
