3 – Seo Luiz Rubber – The greatest bridge of all time!

         In 1976 I worked at Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, as Coach of the Infanto-Juvenile, Physical Trainer of the Junior and Assistant in the Professional of Seo Froner. A great experience to live with so many Good professionals in the 3 (three) categories and Athletes with Blood of Champions. A Specialization, a Master in Football!

         One of these professionals, Seo Luiz Borracha, taught and led by example. Former player, Goalkeeper, champion in Fla in older times, acted as a Masseur at that time. He had a habit of arriving very early, before the first player arrives. I would go to the field with Seo Bria by my side, then when I arrived, I would go too. He walked all over the field to clean it, collecting all kinds of dirt, cotton, tape, leaves, etc. It left the field clean, smooth as a pool table. On the way, he told stories, remembered his history, we laughed. Then, I would give massages and treat the athletes who needed it, according to the guidelines of the Doctors – Dr. Paulo De São Thiago, Celio Cotechia and Giuseppe Taranto.

         One day, he sent one that I have never forgotten… It was a Fla-Flu of the greats, there in Gávea, full house, as always, he, Seo Rubber defending the Jockey’s goal. There by the so many the striker of the Tricolor sends a petardo from outside the area, in the angle; He who was bouncing on his tiptoes, attentive, takes a step to the side and jumps high, far away, and with his fingertips without gloves, arms stretched to the maximum, body parallel to the square crossbar, makes the defense, lands lying on his side and pulls the ball close to him, from the chest, protecting it without giving rebound. He was already getting up when he heard behind him a loud and lingering CLAP CLAP CLAP. Curious, he looked back and saw Christ the Redeemer from the top of his mountain, with his arms stretched out in front and a smile on his lips applauding the saving defense, a bridge never seen before! Never forgotten! Now it’s written and perpetuated, Maktub!

         He told the story in its characteristic simplicity and smiled…

         His son, Borrachinha, was also a good goalkeeper and coach. Paul Passion, the King of Gratitude, worked with him and affirmed that he was exceptional as the Father.

Seo Luiz Rubber also said, as well remembered the Goalkeeper Jadir (who was from Flamengo’s base at that time of Champions) said that the late Geraldo (Whistler) gave a dribble to an opponent there in Gávea, that the guy got crooked and fell. When he, Old Seo Rubber looked at the Christ, He was also crooked to the same side that the player had fallen to!

Seo Luiz Borracha contava também, como bem lembrou o Goleiraço Jadir (que era da Base do Flamengo naquela época de Campeões) contava que o falecido Geraldo (Assobiador) deu um drible em algum adversário lá na Gávea, que o cara ficou torto e caiu. Quando ele, Velho Seo Borracha olhou para o Cristo, Ele também estava tortinho para o mesmo lado que o jogador havia caído!
