TESTS – (APPLICATION)
1 – 12-MINUTE TEST
VENUE – An athletics track, a football field or any free area (street, road, park or forest) that can be measured.
MATERIAL – a stopwatch – a whistle.
EXECUTION – the athlete must travel for 12 minutes as far as possible. Try to run all the time. If you lose your breath, you can walk a little until you get it back, then run in noon, but keep moving for 12 minutes.
2 – SPEED – PIKES OF 50 METERS (LAUNCHED)
MATERIAL – 1 CHRONOMER
VENUE – TRACK OR FOOTBALL FIELD
EXECUTION – the athletes, previously well heated, move at a distance of approximately 20 meters from the starting point and go for it in a moderate race and only when they reach it is that, at a certain signal, they start developing the speed.
3 – MUSCLE POWER – LEGS – long jump without impulse.
MATERIAL – measuring tape (tape)
LOCATION – preferably in a jump box or a small area in the field itself.
EXECUTION – standing still, legs flexed, jumps as far as possible.
4 – MUSCULAR POWER – ARMS – lateral kick with a 3 kg medicine-ball.
VENUE – a court or any 25 m area on the football field itself
EXECUTION – standing, legs semi-flexed laterally, arms raised holding the medicine ball as far as possible without moving the feet from the ground.
5 – ABDOMEN – (muscle resistance located in the abdominal muscles)
MATERIAL – a mattress – a stopwatch – help from a companion.
LOCATION – any free area of at least 6 square meters.
EXECUTION – lying in supine position, hands to the nape of the neck. Perform trunk push-ups by touching the knees with your elbows for one minute.
6 – CIRCUIT TRAINING TEST
In the Brazilian team that played in the qualifiers in 1969, the tests of potency, endurance (muscular and organic were used as described above. However, in the battery of tests applied in February 1970, in the final phase of preparations to prepare the selection for the competition in Mexico, these tests – power (strength) and localized resistance – were performed through the eight constituent exercises of circuit-training and targeted the main muscle groups – arm, leg, abdomen – in addition to the general resistance that was verified through the Burpee test.
In addition, this test served to establish the initial workloads for each of the players who would be employed in specific work sessions when circuit-training was performed.
Circuit-training was composed of the following exercises:
1 – Arm flexion
2 -Kangaroo
3 – Abdominal
4 – Elastic rope
5 – Lifting of the weight raised
6 – Exercise No. 1 (sucked)
7 – Abdominal
8 – Jumps over beads
MATERIAL – 6 mattresses – 4 bags of 15 kg (overload) – 2 German elastic cords – high -4 medicine-ball balls of 5 kg – 20 beads – stopwatch – whistles
VENUE – football field, gym or any free area of approximately 120 m2.
EXECUTION – After a previous warm-up, the athletes start the circuit-training test passing through all demarcated areas, performing the exercises of localized muscular endurance – arm, leg, abdomen – for 1 (one) minute and those of general endurance, mainly organic – elastic rope, exercise number 1 and alternating jumps over the arms, for 30 (thirty) seconds.
In each exercise, the athlete should be employed in depth, always seeking to achieve as many executions as possible, in order to meet the individual possibilities.
Between performing one and another exercise there will always be a minute’s rest. The individual training load will be evaluated, determining for each exercise half of the maximum yield obtained in the test.
The following is a detailed description of what were the tests employed and the indexes obtained that were considered good, as a starting point for the long training period that began then; although some results presented only regular and also served to fix individual workloads.

Observations:
In the speed test, 50 meters launched, the results obtained were considered by the Physical Preparation Commission, as being very good, since the approximate average of 5.6 per pike, constitutes an excellent index.
In the flexibility events, except for only a couple of athletes with regular quotes, the others did very well, with an average.good and very good price – which was considered a good result.
ATHLETES DISPENSED BY THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT AT THE TIME:
SCALA – EVERALDO – ROGÉRIO AND TOSTÃO
NEWLY SUMMONED ATHLETES WHO HAVE NOT YET PERFORMED THE TEST:
FELIX – LEONiDAS – ARILSON – ROBERTO – DARIO
P.S. – Grammar like the one of the time.
